Fragrances for This Summer

So summer is upon us on and every gentleman knows that although you may get a little sweaty in the summer that is no excuse to not smell great. I have compiled my top fragrances for the summer weather. In the summer I like a light fresh fragrance citrus and aquatic notes do well and if possible a small that has good projection and silage.

  1. Chanel Bleu a beautiful modern classic fragrance that has been a best seller since its launch in 2010. It’s a fresh and simple fragrance with a very sophisticated feel to it which makes it perfect for work. Labdanum sandalwood mint wood vetiver and grapefruit notes make for a very fresh feel to this. It also last a very long timespray first thing in the morning it will carry you through the whole work day. My only reservation about this fragrance is how popular it is you’re very likely to smell somebody wearing it too.
  2. Virgin Island Water was inspired by a sailing trip near Ginger Island in the Caribbean It opens with a citrusy cocktail of white bergamot, Jamaican lime, Sicilian mandarin. The citruses areaccompanied by a note of copra, the white inner flesh of the coconut. Right off-the-bat, I love it because it has just enough coconut to make me feel like I’m on vacation. It is a beautiful fragrance that is beautifully balance and smells as expensive as it is, creed fragrances don’t come cheap and this one is no exception but if your wallet stretches to accommodate you won’t regret this choice
  3. Terre D’Hermes ETF, Eau Tres Fraiche meaning fresh water, is summer take on the classic Terre D’hermes, which I think is a beautiful alternative to the ordinary smelling citrus and aquatics in most men’s summer line up. It’s top is citrus mainly orange peel and grapefruit with added aquatic notes which gives it lighter feel than the original and in my opinion my suited for intense heat but still keeps the unique Terre D’hermes DNA at its core. It’s a fragrance that inspires confidence and makes a statement.
  4. Another Hermes a lesser known one from the Un Jardin line of unisex summer fragrances Un Jardin Sur le Nil. This fragrance is has notes of carrot, orange and cinnamon but off the top what you get is a large dose of green mango which is unusual and would like to see more mango in fragrances. The mango is accompanied by lotus giving a flowery vibe. What you have is very light close to skin fresh smelling fragrance that is truly unique. Be warned its isn’t a long lasting and has limited silage so is a fragrance for you and your partner to enjoy.
  5. Chanel Allure Homme Sport is a classic that was released in 2004 by the famous ‘nose’ of Chanel house, Jacques Polge. It is a fresh sharp fragrance to start which then introduces aquatic notes of water and aldehydes and ends with a dry down of cream Tonka bean vanilla and white musk which lasts a long while and will easily get you through the whole day. Somewhat like bleu it’s a big seller and don’t be surprised to hear that you smell like her dad or ex
  6. Dior Homme this may be a controversial choice for the summer but I have included it anyway as I wear it in the summer evenings because of the floral notes I get from the top. These florals are lavender, sage and bergamot, but the star of the show is the iris which gives this fragrance the much spoken about makeup smell which deters some men from picking this fragrance. The base however is made up of leather and patchouli which avoids this fragrance straying too far down the feminine route. Dior Homme is a unique men’s fragrance which won’t be for all but do give it test and decide for yourself.
  7. Dolce & Gabanna The One released in March of 2008 is an interesting fragrance that manages to smell like a classic men’s fragrance while pushing the envelope. The top has notes of amber tobacco and ginger and the middle contains orange and grape fruit with the base consisting of basil and cedar. It is a sweet fragrance that doesn’t get too cloying due to how fresh it is. It is seen by many as a winter fragrance but I think it shines in the heat definitely one to try out for those cooler summer nights,
  8. Kenzo Power is the Dior Homme’s little brother concocted by the same nose, Olivier Polge. It is a floral fragrance first and foremost. Where Dior Homme tried its best to have masculine roots and succeeded Power is androgynous some would say feminine. However I am a huge fan of the floral and for guys that are brave enough to wear hot pink shirts this one is for you. It works well in the heat with a powdery floral scent that lasts all day.
  9. Versace Eau Fraiche. Eau Fraiche has a Mediterranean quality with some woody notes. Top notes include lemon, bergamot, rosewood, and rose but what you mainly get from this fragrance is citrus and aquatics imagine eating a lemon popsicle by the seaside that embodies the essence fragrance fun fresh and sweet the beauty of this fragrance is the fact that it’s one of the only citrus aquatics that lasts on the skin all day and if you look hard enough this one can be picked up relatively cheaply.
